My Travelogue-Prague

I bought Flixbus ticket for Frankfurt to Prague for about 40 Euros. I have to tell you, the view was absolutely breathtaking. From frozen lakes to high-end cars, it was simply mesmerizing.  img_9080

I reached the Praha-florenc bus station at 13:30. Since I was travelling on a budget, I walked a mile to the hotel, dragging my luggage (trolley bag) all along. The festive season was on, and the old town square was really crowded. The theatre was playing a ballet- Swan Lake.

The hotel I stayed at was- Church Pension Praha, a budget hotel, with good wi-fi connection and other basic necessities. The manager was really cool. He cracked jokes and made us feel at home.

The church and the old-town setting looked like a scene- straight from a Disney movie-too beautiful to be real.

There were Christmas markets which had barbecued meat, antique jewellery, candies, cakes, and majorly, hot wines.

Czech Republic is a part of the European Union, however, it’s currency is not Euro. Their currency is Czech Koruna. The exchange rate is: 1 Euro= 27 CZK. A few shops accept cards, but only if you make a purchase more than 300 CZK. My advice is to get some cash exchanged beforehand from the Praha-Florenc bus station. Also, beware of the exchange shops that say “Best Exchange Rate”, they lure tourists easily. Don’t fall into the trap.

My travelogue-How it started!

img_9110My brother Aman is an avid traveler. He has traveled to so many cities worldwide and is always on the move. So, he was the inspiration. With the support of my parents, my younger cousin (sister) and I went on this almost solo trip and had the time of our life.

Somehow, most of the things panned out the way we expected. Some cities surprised us, some taught us and some made us fall in love with them

Our flight was KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. We got an amazing deal on the flight ticket. We got Delhi-Frankfurt-Delhi(round trip) for $500. For flight bookings, I used ‘skyscanner.com’. I recommend you start looking for tickets 2-3 months prior to your trip.

We departed from Indra Gandhi International Airport, Delhi at 3 a.m. on 21st December. Woo-hoo! And we arrived in Amsterdam from where we had a connecting flight to Frankfurt. We had to take the bus to change the terminal, and boy was it cold! And it was raining! We arrived in Frankfurt at 11:30 a.m.(local time), 21st December. We were in a new country, all by ourselves but we were so excited. It was cold, so I started dancing to build up some heat in my body! 😀img_9028

I am so glad to be back here. The last year was crazy with my graduation, my new job. But finally, I am here to stay.

I recently went to Europe and loved it. So, I am going to put up posts every week sharing the best ways to travel around the cities, ways to save money. Basically, all my experiences.

Yay! I’m so excited.

How are you?

happiness-heart-sunsetHey fellas!! How have you been?

Hope your life is filled with happiness.

Isn’t it awesome, when you go to the supermarket, and someone asks you,”how have you been?”
It feels pretty amazing to know someone cares. 🙂

Coding for dummies

Starting-A-2
Do you want to make something of your own? Everything you love was made with code.

Do you love the idea of coding, but don’t know where to start?  Fret not. Let’s begin our journey into the world of coding.

Disclaimer: This article will not teach you any coding concepts. However, if you are interested in learning how to write your first code, I am sure this will be helpful.

  1. Okay, this is the most obvious one. You should have a genuine interest to start coding.
  1. Pick a language. Most graduate schools introduce the students to the world of programming through C. However, if you keep your options open, Python is an even better language to start with.
  1. When you think you are ready, write down (on paper) what you want to code about and what do you expect your code to do?
  1. When you are done writing what you expect out of the code, the next step would be to write an algorithm, which is a set of ‘step by step’ operations that need to be performed. Remember: An algorithm can be written in any language (including English, Hindi, French, and yeah, German). This is the most significant step, so don’t skip it.
  1. When you are done writing an algorithm, write the code in your preferred language.
  1. The most important quality to possess as a coder is: perseverance. You should be persistent through whatever failures you may face. Just keep at it and you’ll be awesome.

  • Each one of us is sent to the Earth to serve a purpose. You need to find yours.
  • You are a masterpiece. The fact that you were chosen to be a part of this ecosystem makes you one of the luckiest people in the world.
  • You were chosen because you are capable. So, make yourself count. Make your presence felt.
  • There is no one else like you. So, be yourself.
  • Every morning, look at yourself in the mirror and describe, how amazing you are.

’cause you are the best version of yourself 🙂

LOVING YOURSELF

Happiness is when you are listening to your favorite song and singing along, out loud. It just brings out inner satisfaction, isn’t it?

Whenever you are feeling lost, you have no idea where to go, just listen to your favorite song and most of your questions will be answered. I know, not everything in life is perfect. Sometimes, things don’t turn out the way we planned. But its all up to us, as to how we perceive things. Don’t let anything affect you. You need to own your life, or somebody else will.

Now, lets take a look at little kids around us.They are excited for every little thing. No matter what, they look forward to a new day, because it promises more adventures and things to learn. I wonder, when did all this change for us? How did we grow up so fast?

Lets be little kids again! Lets laugh at small things. Let the morning sunshine bring new colors to your life, each day.

Love Yourself!! Laugh out loud!!

XOXO

Saumya 🙂

“Mantras” to live by once you are out of college

colg3

1.       Your life is yours. You are responsible for it, not your parents. Stop whining. You messed up something? Stop blaming someone else for it. Take responsibility, and learn from your mistakes.

2.       Life is not divided into semesters, and you won’t get summers off, like you usually have. Once you are out of college, and you’ve entered the real world, you won’t get a vacation from life. It goes on.

3.       You think your teacher is strict? Wait until you get a boss.

4.       Opportunity won’t always come to you. You have to create opportunities for yourself. People say opportunities are hard to find. Well if that’s the case, create one for yourself.

5.      Television isn’t real. In reality, people actually have to leave the coffee shop, and go to work. You won’t be paid to sit in the coffee shop all day.

6.      The world doesn’t care about your self esteem. You are expected to accomplish something, before you feel good about yourself.

7.    Don’t try to be someone you are not. You are great as you are. Just make yourself better with each passing day.

8.   You think losing that extra pound would make you happy? No, it won’t. You have to find out what makes you happy. Ask yourself,”Is this what I really want?” If the answer is ‘No’ for many days in a row, don’t do it. Figure out what you really want.

9.   Some people taste success very early in life, like Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, etc.  They achieved it because they worked very hard for it. You want to be successful? Follow your dreams, work hard, and you can move mountains.

10.   You won’t start making thousands of dollars, right out of college. You’ll have to be patient.

11.   Life isn’t fair, but it is still good. It is way too short to waste time hating anyone.  Instead, make at least three people smile everyday. What you do in life, counts. So, make the most of it.
